You didn't mention the sexual differences. 👀 Voracious eaters, peaceful coexistence with others and beautiful spangling, I called them mini muskies, have never seen one at a pet shop.

Snakehead. That's the species that predates on Betta Splendens in their native habitat.

My "I know why they fight" theory : CHAPTER ONE. ------------------------- If you have a bunch of them who are very young you will always see just ONE growing up to it's full size and displaying it's fins in a flashy way. All of the others will "dig their hole" waiting for the alpha male to die or go away. After he's gone another male will allow itself to take that place (maybe after a fight to establish who is the strongest), and so on. Now if you buy a bunch of them, and they give you more than one "adult", basically what you've just done is to put two or more alphas face to face between 4 walls with no way to escape... Guess what will happen ? Yes. They will fight and to the death if need be. It's all about territory. Only the Betas will be allowed to live under a single Alpha iron fist rule. That is how they are and you can't really change that. CHAPTER TWO ‐----------------------- They say you need 4-6 or more for them to be happy. I don't think it's true at all. Males of this species can't stand each other. They have to disguise as females ijust in order to not to be killed. It would only be true if somehow we could sex them and order 1 male and 5 females. So as long as we can't get females, you're better having just 1 per tank in my humble opinion.

i really appreciate you making this video. i had the same question about expense as i'm on a really strict budget. but easily, you could say that you CAN pay for cheap fish, but you also run the risk of losing them and would have to re-purchase fish because of that. so it can end up more.

How did you prep the lava rock to be safe for use in the aquariums?

If you want to see them, just reduce light

Green water cells alone are too small for fish to see and eat. It is actually the infusoria and paramecium that there eating. When eating the infusoria, the fry will take in some green water. That's how that works.

Correction in the title, it will be Gastrodermus with "U" Gastrodermis on the other hand is the skin of the digestive tract.

Wow I think this is one of the best scud cultures I've seen including my own. Definitely gonna take some pointers from your setup very nice. I have a few buckets with live plants hornwort and little have moss and some leaves at the bottom mine seem to by doing good but I like your setup
